Each student must pick two options from the list below. Co-curricular sessions run every afternoon from 15:30-17:00 with students taking part in each activity for one week.

Sevenoaks School prides itself on being a centre for academic excellence and for providing a broad co-curricular education. This is reflected in all the summer programmes.
Our aim is to help students to become well-rounded individuals and the key to this is participation in co-curricular activities. There are interesting and fun activities in the afternoons and evenings, as well as several excursions.
The activities listed below are planned and delivered by trained staff and coaches. Students choose one activity per week and have a total of 12 hours of activities during the two-week session.
Archery
Archery provides the opportunity for students to learn and refine their shooting technique with the help of Archery GB-qualified instructors. This activity welcomes all levels.
Art
Taking advantage of the well established Art department, students have the opportunity to take part in photography, sketching and painting, to name a few of the activities. Regardless of aptitude, students will share the excitement of the process of discovery and exploration of personal creative interests.
Athletics
Choosing this option will allow students to develop their skills in a variety of track and field events, whether they are experienced athletes or new to the sport. Our state-of-the-art running track was opened by GB Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes and is the ideal location for students to progress their athletic abilities.
Badminton
Badminton is among the world’s top 10 most participated sports. It is an extremely popular indoor sport and is played regularly by an estimated 220 million people. Students will improve their skills through focused drills and technique practice before coming together to take part in round-robin tournaments.
Baking
Want to take time to relax and bake for you and your new friends? The baking co-curricular allows students to use the state-of-the-art kitchens in the boarding houses to make cakes, pastries, cookies and desserts.
Basketball
Basketball is an incredibly popular sport, played by approximately 450 million people all over the world. In our basketball sessions, students of all abilities improve their skills through carefully planned drills before putting them into practice in competitive match plays.
Board Games
Open to all students, this fun and inclusive activity is led by our own enthusiastic Activity Leaders. Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or just looking to try something new, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Climbing
Our ever-popular climbing wall features an impressive 8-metre Entre-Prises Imprint Panel, equipped with in-situ ropes, an auto-belay system, and eyelets for lead climbing. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your technique, expert tuition is available throughout the session, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all climbers.
Cooking
One of the benefits of having students from so many different countries is that we have the opportunity to share so much, and cooking international cuisine is no exception. Students work together to create a variety of dishes taught by our own catering team.
Dance
Students will have the chance to learn ballroom dancing and street dance over the four days. There is the opportunity to perform their chosen dance at the Talent Show that takes place at the end of each session.
Fashion Textiles
In this creative workshop, students will explore a variety of skills including fabric dyeing, sewing, and crafting unique decorations. It’s a hands-on opportunity to express individual style and develop practical design techniques.
Fitness
Sevenoaks students understand the importance of maintaining a healthy body as well as a healthy mind, and this activity gives them the chance to do exactly that. With expert supervision and guidance, students can use the school’s state-of-the-art gym and take part in activities like circuit training and work on the athletics track.
Football
Football is the world’s most popular sport and played to a very high standard at Sevenoaks School. With guidance from one of our Level 2 FA-qualified coaches, students will improve their skills through focused drills and small sided games. Each session is planned in great detail allowing students to develop their skillset over the four days.
Golf
Golfers develop their skills at Hilden Park Golf Club – a beautiful course near to the school. Each student receives expert coaching from one of the club’s resident professionals, taking advantage of the driving range and their 9-hole course.
There is a surcharge of £100 for golf (1 week per course) plus £20 for a weekend round of golf and driving range.
Golf clubs will be provided for the lessons, however if you wish to join the weekend round of golf, you will need to bring your own clubs.
Improvisation and Debate
This popular activity gives students the chance to develop quick thinking, confidence, and communication skills through engaging improvisation games and structured debate in a lively and supportive environment.
Photography
In the modern world, everyone with a smart phone is an amateur photographer and videographer. This co-curricular option allows students to think more deeply about the photos and videos they take by considering factors like lighting, composition and aperture. Sevenoaks School is an ideal location with some amazing photo and video opportunities created by our beautiful campus.
Self-Defence
Self-defence allow you to build your confidence and coordination while learning self-defence techniques in a safe and fun environment. This co-curricular option focuses on a combination of Taekwondo, Jiu-jitsu and many other techniques to give students a rounded introduction to martial arts. Open to everyone regardless of experience, this activity allows students to develop skills that are fun, safe and practical.
Shooting
Sport shooting is a challenging and exciting activity that requires a great deal of focus, patience, and skill. Students will benefit from a safe and enjoyable environment that encourages students to develop their skills and passion for the sport, regardless of their level of experience on our very own shooting range from our experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff.
There is a surcharge of £100 for Shooting (1 week per course).
Survival Skills
It is very easy for people to rely on Google for many things in life, but what happens if this luxury is taken away? The Survival Skills co-curricular option will help students learn how to get by without technological help through fire-building, map-reading, foraging and shelter-building while having a lot of fun along the way.
Swimming
Swimmers of all abilities can take advantage of the school’s fantastic 25 metre indoor swimming pool. Our trained coaches will help swimmers improve their technique as well as organise fun and dynamic swimming-based activities.
Tennis
Sevenoaks is highly regarded for tennis provision. Our facilities include three indoor courts (acrylic/Plexipave), seven outdoor hard courts and two astroturf courts. Students will be placed in ability groups in the first session. All students will receive expert guidance from one of our resident tennis professionals, drill training and ample opportunity for match-play.
Students can choose between Beginners Tennis and Advanced Tennis. Those who choose Advanced Tennis will pay a surcharge of £100 for a 1 week course.
Volleyball
Volleyball is one of the world’s most popular sports, and is ever-growing. It is currently played by an estimated 800 million people worldwide. Here at Sevenoaks, those who choose volleyball as their co-curricular option will take part in a variety of skills-based activities designed to improve and develop each player’s technique. Each session ends with a match, allowing the students to show what they have learned and improved on in the session.
